Currently in August

I can't believe summer has come down to this last day... for me! I'm back at work this week-- not seeing the kiddos until Wednesday though... so I have a little time to breathe!

A day late for currently, yesterday was a day FULL of school! It started with an event my school does at the beginning of the year called Neighborhood Knocks. Instead of just posting classes online or on the front door, our staff and a partnering church come together and visit every student's house and tell them who their teacher will be. It only takes about 1.5 hours and most kids are very excited about it!

I rushed home for my kids to get their knock too! It kicked off some major excitement in my house.... to the tune of trying on their school clothes! ha!!

I ended up back at school to get some organization done in my classroom BY MYSELF! I usually take the kids with me daily, but only so much gets done with them.

When I came home we ran out for more school clothes! Oh, and I stopped at Home Depot to get some composition books cut in half.... if you don't mind a few jagged edges this is a free solution to cutting composition books (as opposed to that paid option at staples).

Needless to say.... I slept like a baby!

Mornings have seriously been my jam this summer.... the kids are sleeping in, the husband has usually already left for work (today he is sleeping in), and it's just me and the coffee (which I just realized I could use another cup!). Usually the TV is on for some background noise, today the background noise is House Hunters Renovation. It started with George Stephanopoulos- but listening to politics this early in the morning bodes for a bad day, HGTV saves me this morning!

Loving and appreciating my parents this morning! Tonight I'm going to take the kids to their house for a couple nights before the first day of school. I have inservice for 2 days and the hubs has to work, so their help is very appreciated... plus they get to spend some quality time with their grandbabies.

This week we met with the builder to finalize the architectural plans for our new house... which means.... this week could be the work they start on the foundation! Praying to get in by Christmas!!! So, of course, now I'm wanting to drive out there and take a look at the land and re-visit the model home.

I left everything at school yesterday so I wouldn't work on anything today. It would be nice to go this last day without thinking about what needs to get done at school! I'm excited to have a student teacher come this week, so some of that last minute labeling stuff will get done- so no worries!

B2S RAK: I should have taken a picture of what I've already done! I just made a little happy for my wonderful team mates. Here is the pinspiration:

Instead of hand-picking a perfect teacher, I put: I couldn't have hand picked a better team!

Which I couldn't have! They are awesome! I got soap from the dollar spot at Target. So easy!

And, now for some relaxation today!

oh! I almost forgot!!! There is a big sale going on TPT this week!!

My wish-list is already full! I can't wait to see what you buy! I will share mine later this week ;)

CURRENTLY July!

It's blah, rainy day and I haven't even gotten motivated enough to get out of my pj's! It's summer though... that's my excuse!

Something exciting has happened this week though... We finally closed on our house! So, one of my "dare to dream" dreams is on its way...
Tomorrow I get to meet with the builder to get the process started of building our house!
I am so excited!!

I suppose I'll throw a load of laundry in... at least no one can say I didn't do ANYthing today! :)

Secret's Out!

I didn't want to say anything...

I mean I know it is not really socially acceptable... but.... I've been listening to Christmas music for a week now! I have been keeping it under wraps, because I have been seeing tons of facebook posts that look like this:

I guess now it's okay though... ya know... Now that it's December! A new month brings a new currently. Link up with Farley here

So I started writing this earlier today and then got caught by the hubs.. and drug.... I mean literally drug away to do my least favorite holiday duty... tree trimming!

I mean, I love spending time with my family, but I absolutely hate dislike (really really dislike) putting the tree up and decorating. I guess since I mostly have to do it by myself while the kids are messing around and the hubs watches... it becomes a chore.

But, now it's over-- thank goodness! I don't, however, dislike decorating at school, but still haven't done that either! Oh well!

In other news, I am sure by now you have heard about the Cyber Monday (and Tuesday) sale TPT has going tomorrow!
Click the pic to go straight to my TPT store!
You might be wondering what you could get.... and here are a few of my favorite things (just happens to be on the radio right now...hehe)

In the mood for math....

Do you teach with Treasures?

How about Journeys?

Of course there is LOTS more out there in my store and in the other fab sellers on TPT. I need to go get my wishlist ready!! :) Happy shopping... Only 20 days til Christmas break!!

November is CURRENTLY here!

Well, November just snuck right up on us... with daylight savings time and everything! Does that mean an extra hour of sleep tonight?!

I am linking up for November with Farley for her monthly Currently linky. Yay!

My son has recently become obsessed with Pokemon. I'm sure you have seen a card or 2 floating around your classroom. I guess it is better than being obsessed with a fighting game or a gun or something! I accidentally found a pokemon movie "on demand" while looking at the movies tonight and now we are stuck watching it. You think I would be able to get more done since I am blocking it out... but there is still pinterest to distract me!! lol

So proud of my 4 year old tonight! She has been learning her sounds at school and most of the time she won't practice with me (she only likes practicing with Daddy). But tonight she came over to me and wrote "ot" and "at" on a paper. She was sounding out the families, so I told her to add a p to the "ot" and a h to the "at". Then she sounded out the whole words without my help! shocked... and PROUD! My sweet girl is getting so big!

Which makes me feel better about the crazy amount of money we pay for pre-k! I know it is just one more year of $$ for childcare but it kicks our butt! $160/week is crazy!

Needing.. some sleep! I don't feel sleep deprived during the day but at night I am! For the past couple of weeks I have been waking up in the middle of the night and then struggling to sleep through the night. I feel miserable in the night! I am about to resort to some Tylenol PM... hopefully it will do the trick!

Do you make dinner calendars? We have been trying to make dinner calendars. We made a really great one that we pretty much followed in September, then slacked off in October (b/c I was off for 2 weeks!) but now that November has hit I feel like we should get back on track! It was so helpful in grocery shopping and for those busy weeks at school... knowing that dinner would be on the table by one of us. It is just one more thing to make though. (and one more thing to distract me from work!)

I have 2 yummy pins for you! I am going to try one this week for dinner and the other I have made a couple times and it is delicious!

This looks super, quick, easy and yummy! I've always loved some chicken pot pie!

These are an awesome Smores dessert!

Click the pics above to get these recipes! Yum!

Also, tonight I found out about this:

K5 Learning has an online reading and math program for kindergarten to grade 5 students. I've been given a 6 week free trial to test and write a review of their program. If you are a blogger, you may want to check out their open invitation to write an online learning review of their program. - See more at by clicking here

no labor for me today

Isn't that the whole purpose of Labor Day? Enjoy a break...
My post title isn't entirely true though...

Shortly while I am at the Y I should hope my breathing is LABORed... Need a good workout! lol

Also, by the end of the day I must complete my planning for the week. blah!

I am linking up with Farley for this month's Currently. I have to be honest- I have missed the past couple months on this fun linky- I am trying to get back to a regular routine!

Listening/Loving

I have loved being home the past couple of days and listening to my 4 year old (who just started pre-k a couple weeks ago!). She is a non-stop talker!!!! She is obsessed with drawing and writing letters (even though she can't really spell).

Yesterday I caught her pretending to be her teacher and sounding out her letters (which I wish I could say she did correctly). Last night we went to a big church festivity and the whole way home she sang every (and I mean every!) song on the radio. It was hilarious!

Thinking

I have been really bad about making it to the Y since school started. I knew this would happen... but I haven't done anything to help myself. I ran my first 5k at the beginning of August (something that I planned for and worked toward over the summer), but I thought if I had a solid routine before school started I would be able to keep it up...

not so much! I did go yesterday and I am going to go today... so, that's something!

Wanting

I don't know about any other bloggers out there but I am feeling very, very unmotivated these days. Just like with the Y above, except my lack of motivation is spreading into other aspects of my life!

You can probably notice that Saturday when I blogged it had been a few weeks before then that I had blogged (so I consider this an accomplishment of 2 blog posts this weekend!). In addition to blogging I am having trouble conceptualizing certain skills that I need to help my kids focus on at school.

Since I moved to 2nd grade and we have a new reading series the packets I made for Treasures last year are not as helpful as they were. I can use some things, but a lot are specific to what we were working on in first grade. I have contemplated making new packets to go along with Journeys but then I think about how much work that is! Am I just being lazy? Probably. I bought a few other people's packets on TPT to check them out, but haven't found anything that I am in love with.

I am slowly but surely working on this motivation factor... I think it might be the back to school blues! lol

*Skipping Needing... I think you got it!

Love Yourself Spot

1. I think (going back to the Y thing) that I am going to make a Y schedule and go at least 3 times after school. There is a Y literally 1 mile from my school that I could drop in to 3 afternoons.... I could make up a ton of excuses, but I just need to do it!!!

2. I am in desperate need for a haircut! I haven't gotten it done since May. The hubs doesn't understand how a new do and truly make you feel 100% better! Scheduling that soon!

3. I am generally a positive thinker..except...when it comes to me! I think I (like many other women) am quick to judge/criticize myself. I have certain days where I feel really great about myself, but lots of times I can find something wrong with me. I need to be more positive, but it is truly hard to do!!

So, I will end it here! I hope everyone has a fab Labor Day holiday and a great week at school! Can't promise I will posting again before the weekend (or should I say "a weekend"- you never know when I'll be back!)

Currently... Oh, how I've missed you!

It's been a few months since I have linked up with Farley... I was so busy, now I am feeling sooo lazy! It's crazy how hard it is to go from busy, busy, busy to not knowing what to do... so I am just doing nothing!

That is partially not true though.. Even though I have finally made it to summer I did commit to work a camp next week. A little extra summer cash and a fun learning experience, 1 week of my summer is worth that :)

Anyway, here is my currently:

So, last month (yeah May) I got my Master's in Math Education. I am super excited about being done and having my Masters, but now I have to take this ol' Math Praxis- which will be good because I will be certified K-12 Math, but it will also be ridiculously hard... so I kinda need to hit the books and review a few things... which I have been putting off and I still don't wanna do!

Maybe I will give in to those books tomorrow..... we shall see... lol

Anyway, I need to get my summer reading list together so I can read some good "fluffy" books (if ya know what I mean). I have been hearing a lot about this book:

and I have yet to read The Hunger Games, so I might want to do that since everyone and their mother has read that series!

Please help me out with this pitiful list! I need something new and interesting :)

I don't know about you but I cannot travel without my own pillow! It just isn't the same on those hotel beds.

Off to my comfy bed-- hopefully I'll hit the books tomorrow! Wish me luck!!

Currently... only a few hours to a super sale!

I love currently. I missed it last month... I've been really really busy!
Anyhoo, my kids are addicted to electronics! One is sitting across the room on the ipad (he is addicted to Wild Kratts- an app he bought with his tooth fairy money! lol). The other one is on the nook (at least she's reading... and btw she is reading Pete the Cat!)
As I am writing this the hubs just woke up from his so-called "cat nap".

Everything else is pretty self-explanatory... on to pet peeves:
My number one pet peeve is SNORING (check out what I was listening to during my Currently). My husband's snoring is getting worse. Some nights its not too bad but most of the time it drives me bonkers. Especially when we are in the living room and he could go get in bed, but he won't. Even our three year old says, "Daddy, stop snoring! It's annoying!!" lol

Boys do make annoying noises. My son is starting the noises too. His noises are mainly made to annoy his little sister... they seem to happen right about the time we're in the car!

My school pet peeve is crowding. I'm sure you've experienced this at the beginning of the year... multiple children walking up to you to ask a question, soon your surrounded... the walls are closing in... ahhhh! I hate that... we have to break that behavior, and QUICK!

So, you might of heard of this big sale going on... tomorrow!

I am also having 30% in my Teacher's Notebook store. I am sure there are some fab finds out there... I already have a few things in my wish list, bout to go add some more.

While your shopping tomorrow, download this fun freebie:

Click the pic to go to my TPT store.

My kids understood this concept (comparing numbers to 120) very quickly, but when I ask them to verbalize the equation, they are stumbling over their words. This little game can be played whole group or small group. Hopefully your kiddos will find it helpful too.

Have a Super Sunday tomorrow! I can't wait to see your purchases. I'll share mine when I make my final selections!

september currently

I have noticed that sometimes at "currently" time I have a tendency to misspell currently. I get to typing to fast I don't even notice the error...
anyhoo

Just noticing that font might not have been the best choice for this! Sorry!

My little 3 year old (Addison) is hilarious about this new Taylor Swift song. Nothing can bring a smile to your face like hearing a 3 year old sing all the words and insert commentary. I need to video next time she is singing.. A.DOR.A.BLE!!

I have been keeping my long weekend :) filled with lots of... work!

I mean I thought it was LABOR day right! I am horrible about planning... I am constantly getting distracted with other things on the Internet! Pretty much finished today.

I did take a few minutes of relaxation yesterday. I traded in my monthly massage for a facial. It was marvelous... I think I may be trading in my massage more often!

Last night I did a sewing project all by myself! (Usually when I have some sewing project I take it to my mom for guidance then I do the project at her house, just in case there is a mess up!) This time I did it all by myself.. with a phone consult with my mom :) I made some new curtains for my classroom. I haven't hung them yet, but here is a sneak peak:

I also finished up a packet for Treasures Unit 1, Week 5- Soccer. Check it out here:

Have a fab day off friends!
